JOAN CAWS WINS WORLD LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

The first Women's World Championship Tournament was held in 1986 during the British Open at Aberdeen. Joan Caws from the Isle of Wight won the title in fine style without losing a game and thus became the first official Women's or Ladies World Champion.

There were four contenders as follows:
